For this invitational plein air group show, I completed six new paintings this spring and delivered them a few days ago. The long drive to the Catskills was well worth it – once I got there the temperature dropped 10 degrees, and the paintings were well-received…. by the gallery’s mascot shi-tzu, anyway!

This show opens Saturday, July 2. Visit www.windhamfinearts.com for more information. If you are in the Catskills, Windham is a lovely small town at the northern edge of the mountains, less than half an hour west of Route 87 on Route 23, and maybe around 45 minutes from Hudson, NY.

Just found out that the lovely plein air exhibition “A River Runs Through It” hosted by Windham Fine Arts has been extended through Labor Day weekend, and will now close on September 7, 2009.  It’s a perfect time of year to visit the Catskills – cooler than in NYC, that’s for sure! Visit www.windhamfinearts.com for details.

Don’t miss this painting as well as six others I have in this show, depicting Riverside Park, the little red lighthouse at the base of the George Washington Bridge, Tarrytown Marina, park in Buchanan, NY, and a couple of views from Peekskill, NY.  Visit EllaYangStudio.com to see the paintings (look in City and Country).

It was a whole-weekend event to get to Windham for the opening reception on Saturday, thanks to traffic galore.  It was well worth it to meet some of the other artists and potential collectors, and, most of all, to see the show!

The exhibition, A River Runs Through It, will be up through August 9th at Windham Fine Arts. Check it out – it’s less than half an hour west of the NY Thruway (Route 87), and a gorgeous meandering, traffic-free part of the trip.
