It helps that I’m curating the shows at Purume Gallery – I am able to put my own work into exhibitions whenever I can. So, the truth is out! The next show which we will be hanging tomorrow features four of us who paint our hometown with great affection and energy. Except for Little Owl Cafe, which is a restaurant in the West Village, the rest of my paintings will be Brooklyn views. The other three artists will have paintings of Coney Island and Manhattan. My friend Ticia’s paintings are almost exclusively of Greenwich Village views. This exhibit is likely to be popular. Hope you’ll stop by!

Well, the hot weather didn’t deter visitors to the Artwalk this past weekend, although it seems the threats of a major thunderstorm and even possibly a tornado kept the number of visitors a little lower on Sunday. My paintings and etchings looked right at home at Sterling Place, and people remarked at how it looked most like a gallery compared to other artists who were showing maybe two or three samples of their work. So, maybe I over-did it!

Then, there’s the opposite wall:

And the mini’s in the back of the shop:

I forgot to take a photo of my discount bin – in an effort to make more space in my studio I put out a bunch of older paintings and oil studies discounted by 25-50%. All of the work will remain at Sterling Place until Friday afternoon, June 11, so if you missed the Artwalk, you can stop by during their regular hours.

If you missed the Gowanus Artists Studio Tour, then here are the new paintings of views within a block of my studio that I showed then. I had posted about them a few weeks ago – trucks and such.

I”ll be posting them to my website soon.

Back in my ‘hood, I’ve started a new series of small, 12″x12″ paintings on panel depicting the commercial/industrial aspects near my studio.  They are not yet finished, but here’s a peak of them underway…
