It’s that time of year again. The artist members at the cooperative gallery I joined in January decided that for one long weekend, we will put a lot of great stuff out, reduce our prices and give our collectors a break this holiday season. Of course, we hope to clear out some studio space, too.

News flash! I joined 440 Gallery, a wonderful artists collective with a lovely storefront in Park Slope, Brooklyn.  Most of the time, one of the members have a solo exhibition in the main, front part of the gallery, and meanwhile the other members show a sample of their work in the back part. You should definitely ask to see what’s in the flat files (also in the back area).  There is quite a variety of great artwork: painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media. And, most wonderful (and astonishing) is how reasonably priced all the art is there. You have to stop by to see for yourself!

Here is what I have in the back right now:

Purple and Blue Awnings, oil on canvas, 12"x16"

I’ve also left some oil studies on panels (discounted heavily!) in my drawer.

The gallery is open Thursday and Friday, 4-7, Saturday and Sunday, 11-7, and by appointment. Check it out! For more info, visit www.440gallery.com.

Visit the 440 Gallery before the show closes on Saturday, July 25!  The work in the show includes a broad range of styles and techniques including painting, drawing, photography, prints, mixed and new media that directly relates to the borough of Brooklyn, NY.  My painting, “Early Evening on Garfield Place” has a great spot near the entrance! The show was reviewed in July’s Wagmag, a local arts website.

Last night’s opening reception at the 440 Gallery spilled out onto the sidewalk of 6th Avenue as dozens of artists, friends, and patrons gathered to celebrate the opening of The Brooklyn Show.  I caught a glimpse of Florence Neal, the juror of the show, but did not get to meet her.  Chatted with other artists in the show, Francis Sills, Emily Berger, Joanne McFarland.  If you’re in Park Slope, stop by the gallery. There’s a wonderful range of media, themes and styles.
