There’s no denying that an exhibit makes me focus on what paintings will be in it, and even though I have many paintings, I’ve become newly inspired thanks to the theme of In/Sight=On/Site.  We’ll be showing in the Patrons’ Gallery at the Salmagundi Club, which is fairly small, so I’ve been creating new small, but intense paintings.  Along with the colorful, intimate streetscapes, I’ve become bemused, almost magnetized by the myriad of trucks that are in my studio neighborhood.  I’ll post some of these soon, but here’s a look at my studio with works in progress:

Well, it’s not as if I don’t have plenty of paintings, but I feel motivated to paint a few more for my upcoming exhibition: In/Sight=On/Site, Recent Paintings with Mary K. Connelly. We’ll be showing at the Salmagundi Club in the Patrons’ Gallery, a lovely newly renovated space on the second floor, from May 30 through June 11, 2009. Mark your calendars for the Opening Reception on Saturday, May 30, 3-6 pm and the Closing Reception on Thursday, June 11, 6-8 pm.  Mary and I met at the the Vermont Studio Center during an artist residency program in 2006. We found that we have complementary takes on our approaches to painting.  Her intimate, small-scale interiors and my cityscapes and landscapes speak to our shared Love of Place.  Mary will be coming from Denver, CO, for this show. postcard-front250 I’ll post some of my new work soon!
