A couple of weeks ago, right after the Artwalk, a couple of painter friends and I spent a week on the Connecticut Shoreline to paint, paint, paint. I started 4 and have yet to finish them. Clinton is a small town north of New Haven; very laid back with the best breakfast and lunch to be had at “Coffee Break” on Main Street (I’m not kidding!). In fact, the hamburger (half-portion) was unbelievably fresh, delicious and gigantic! Oh, but back to painting. We painted morning and afternoon for a week. We were lucky with the weather. The week was intensive but extremely productive. If you have been keeping count, I now have far too many paintings in progress. (see entries below!!) It’s now time to finish them. They’ll be posted as soon as they are done. Meanwhile, here’s one that’s well along of early morning at the marina in Clinton Harbor.
Even with the scorching heat and high humidity, art-lovers with their Artwalk maps in hand came by The Melting Pot today to see my paintings and etchings. Bravo and many thanks to them! If you didn’t make it out today, I hope to see you tomorrow, Sunday, June 8, 1-6 pm!
My first painting to cross the continent! “Fallen Apple Tree and Lilacs” was a sketch painting I did for the Mother’s Day “Artists on the Hudson” event at Sunnyside in Tarrytown, NY. Happily it is heading westward, as I type!
And soon, a “Brooklyn Bridge” etched print will be heading north to Westchester County.
Well, if I were really organized, I’d have included a photo of my completely disheveled studio here!! I’ve been framing and preparing labels and lists. Yesterday, I had a chance to go back to work on the Moonraker Farm commission in NJ, but didn’t have my camera handy. More on that later. In the mean time, don’t forget to put the Atlantic Avenue Artwalk on your calendars – this Saturday and Sunday, June 7 & 8. I’ll be at the Melting Pot at 492 Atlantic Avenue (Brooklyn, of course). See you then!
